That expansion is not something DualCam triggers or controls, and it is not aware of what is happening underneath it either. Why it can still throw off a framing decision, just not the one you would expect
This is the part that actually matters in practice. While you are framing a shot, a wide Dynamic Island sitting near the top of your screen can make a top-left or top-right picture-in-picture window look crowded or half-covered to you, in the moment, even though nothing about the recorded frame has changed. It can be dragged to any of the four corners while a take is already running, and the file follows immediately, because the preview and the recording are the same rendered frame. So there is no real cost to starting in a top corner and moving it if the shot changes — the only thing worth double-checking is what the main frame is actually doing underneath it, not what a system overlay happened to be doing on your screen a moment ago.
It also helps to remember that the inset sits with a small margin in from the true edge of the canvas rather than flush against it, the same margin that exists in every corner regardless of aspect ratio.
